Always Here

“Always Here” is a labour of love that I released honouring the “Thumri” style of Hindustani music.

Thumri is a North Indian vocal style, classified as light classical or semi-classical, known for its romantic and devotional themes, often centered around the Radha-Krishna legend. It’s characterized by expressive singing, intricate voice culture, and a strong emphasis on conveying the emotions of the lyrics. Thumri evolved from interactions between classical Hindustani music and local traditions, particularly in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India.

The album features Dhanashree Pandit Rai who is the leading exponent of that style of singing. The album was recorded in Mumbai and Amsterdam and features some amazing talent from both continents.
